Police want to speak with a person of interest in relation to the murder investigation of Emerson Sprung of Meaford.
Sprung, 25, was last seen on May 2 at 9 p.m. leaving his residence on Trowbridge Street West in Meaford on his BMX bicycle. Human remains were found on May 6 and were identified as belonging to Sprung. A Meaford man, 34-year-old Matthew McQuarrie, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Police would like to speak with a person observed in video footage collected from a private camera on Grant Avenue on May 2 at 8:59 p.m. and again at 9:10 p.m.
The person is believed to be a male who was wearing a dark-coloured coat with a stripe or logo that extends around the mid-section of the coat. The person was also wearing dark pants and light-coloured shoes.
The investigation into Sprung’s death is ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Police are looking for additional information relating to the crime and the person in the video is asked to contact Grey Bruce OPP, police said in a news release.
