The person charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Meaford man last month is facing new charges.
Matthew McQuarrie, 34, of Meaford made a brief appearance before a justice of the peace in Owen Sound, by audio link from a jail Thursday. One of his two lawyers said they await Crown disclosure on the new charges.
McQuarrie remains in custody and will participate in his next court appearance by audio on July 9. McQuarrie is charged with committing first-degree on Emerson Sprung, 25, on May 2.
Sprung’s remains were found by police in Meaford’s Lakeview Cemetery on May 6 after a search for him. Grey Bruce OPP began searching after Sprung’s mother reported him missing May 3.
