Teen seriously hurt after ATV enters Saugeen River

A teenager from North Huron is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after an all-terrain vehicle went into the Saugeen River north of Walkerton Saturday.

Officers with the South Bruce OPP couldn’t find the ATV rider when they arrived at the river around 1:20 p.m. after receiving a report that a four-wheeler had entered the water near Concession 2.

Members of the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit were called in to help South Bruce OPP officers find the missing rider, according to a police news release.

The 15-year-old was found in the river and brought to shore by Hanover firefighters.

OPP technical traffic collision investigators are helping the local police with their investigation.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122.
