





There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in the region Saturday according to the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s daily situation report.
There hasn’t been a recorded case of the disease in Grey-Bruce since July 9, and there are no known active cases in the region.
The total regional case count throughout the pandemic stands at 115 with 109 cases recovered and six referred to other public health units.
Twenty-eight local healthcare workers have contracted the virus and recovered.
There was a spike of new cases in Ontario Saturday as 166 positive COVID-19 tests were reported by public health units across the province.
Almost two-thirds of those new cases were from Toronto and Windsor-Essex. Twenty-eight of the 34 public health units in the province reported five-or-less new cases of the disease.
Nearly 3.5 million COVID-19 tests have been administered across Canada to date, with 109,669 reported cases and 8,839 deaths as of Saturday afternoon.
Canada’s top health officials are warning they expect to see more cases as Canadians start to reemerge from self-isolation and interact with each other.
“Without a vaccine or effective treatment, Canada’s daily new case count will not drop to zero in the foreseeable future,” the Public Health Agency of Canada said in a statement.
