McDonald’s Canada says it has temporarily closed its Port Elgin restaurant after an employee there reported presumably positive for COVID-19.
The employee worked from 6:45 p.m. on June 23 to 3:45 a.m. on June 24 and was reported presumably positive for the novel coronavirus on June 27.
“Out of an abundance of caution, McDonald’s Canada made the decision to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitation by third-party cleaning experts,” Ryma Boussoufa, McDonald’s Canada’s external communications manager, said Saturday night in a statement.
All crew members who might have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further information is available, the statement said.
Anyone who visited the restaurant at 278 Goderich St. on June 23 or June 24 is asked to follow Ontario Public Health advice, available at publichealthontario.ca.
“We continue to work with the local health authorities to support our people and our guests and will update this statement as more information is available for health authorities,” the statement said.
