
A Dundalk man has been charged with impaired driving after a collision in Southgate sent one person to hospital early Friday evening.
Just before 7 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP were dispatched to a collision on Highway 10 near Southgate Rd. 24, where a black car that was southbound on the highway crossed the centre line and collided with a northbound grey car, police said in a news release.
The driver of the black car was not injured but the other involved driver was transported to hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening, the news release said.
The Southgate Fire Department and Dufferin County EMS assisted police at the scene.
After speaking with those involved, officers found the driver of the black car to be showing signs of impairment. The officers performed a field sobriety test at the scene, which the driver failed. He was arrested for impaired driving by drugs and was taken to the detachment for further tests, the release said.
As a result of the investigation, the 41-year-old man was charged with impaired driving, possession of methamphetamine, careless driving, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Sept. 24.
