A pair of Owen Sound residents were charged with several offences after Saugeen Shores Police responded to an anonymous complaint of a couple drinking booze inside a vehicle at the Port Elgin Beach.
Officers arrived at the scene to find a man and woman seated in the front of the vehicle with a young child in the back seat. The man had an open bottle of rum and a baseball bat was leaning against the vehicle, according to a Saugeen Shores Police Service media release.
Police officers found a pellet handgun concealed inside the vehicle in a “manner that was clearly not for a recreational purpose” and a quantity of suspected cocaine.
The male found inside the vehicle is currently on a release order with a condition to not possess weapons or firearms.
A 24-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with a release order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of cocaine.
A 26-year-old woman has been charged with possession of cocaine.
Both were released with a court date.
